How much do you charge?

This is the question we get asked most often and the one that is hardest to answer. Each return is different in its own way. The best way to find out how much we charge is simple – just ask and we will get you a quote!

We charge a base price plus additional charges for additional forms and schedules. The base price includes standard or itemized deductions, the first state return, and e-filing. We don’t like to look at each form and charge on that, we look at the whole picture and base it on that.

Contact us – we are happy to get you a quote. The IRS has rules about posting or printing prices so to stay on the safe side, we would rather just give you a quote by phone or e-mail. We may ask you at that time to complete a quote request or send us a copy of your most recent return through a secure portal so that we can give you a more accurate idea of what you will be paying for your return.

All that said, we will never be the least expensive choice, but with the pricing comes personalized service and quick responses. It’s worth the cost!

How long does it take?

That’s another hard one to answer. Basically, “it depends”! We don’t do your return while you wait for several reasons. Tax rules are complex, and each individual’s situation is different – so to give you the best service possible, we want to be able to focus on your return. We will go through each return and look at every aspect and send you any questions that we may have. When we are not working on your return though, we would love to get caught up! In general returns are processed first in, first out and the earlier in tax season you get them in, the more likely you are to get a quick turnaround time.

We do use e-mail, text messaging, and our portal to communicate with our clients. In general, we try to keep turnaround time to less than two weeks. Often much less.

Can I come to the office?

Not at this time. We are a fully remote, contact-free service. We can communicate with you by phone, e-mail, text or video chat. We have a secure client portal for securely uploading/downloading tax documents. We accept dropped off or mailed documents. If you have a specific request we can make house calls for pick up and review and signature.

*** Please note we do not accept documents delivered by e-mail or by text. Please use the secure portal to send any documents to us. ***

Do you do business returns?

Yes, but we do limit the type of businesses and entities based on our resources. If you have a very complex return, we may not have the resources to handle it, and will refer you to another larger firm.

If you are a new business client inquiring for the current season in March your return will go on extension in order to give your return the attention it deserves.

Do you do bookkeeping or accounting?

Absolutely! We offer monthly bookkeeping services as well as monthly/quarterly/annual reviews of your books. We also can get you set up with monthly software plans through Quickbooks and can assist you with your daily transactions.

Do you do returns for states other than New Jersey?

Yes, we do. We have clients all over the country and are able to file in any state.

Do you do foreign returns?

No, we do not. International returns can be quite complex and we would rather refer you to a firm that is specialized in foreign returns as we don’t have the resources to handle that complexity.

I haven’t filed for quite a few years, can you help?

Of course! We would love to get you back on track. But returns for prior year non-filers can take some time. We will require a deposit to get started and we will require you to keep current with our invoices (pay for each year as it is done) to continue with the work. If this is your situation it’s best handle your situation during the off season. We will still see you and may start working on your returns if you come in during season, but we may not be able to finish all of the work before the current year filing deadline. The order in which we process the returns depends on many factors which we will go over with you once we have fully reviewed your situation.

When can I get started?

As soon as you would like – we are always accepting new clients. Although, if you come to us in mid-March, we may put you on extension. There is a chance you may not end up on extension, but you will have to agree to an extension if we deem it necessary.

How do I get started?

Contact us either through the form on our Contact Us page, or give us a call. During the call I will take some basic information and answer any questions you might have. If you are coming onboard in mid- to late filing season (March or April) we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the price of the return.

What documents do I need to provide?

Initially, we like to see at least last year’s return (or the last year filed) and would request you to fill out our Tax Organizer. Providing prior year returns will also help us to provide you with a more accurate estimate of the price for your return preparation.

What happens after that?

If you decide to use our services, we will guide you on the process as you go through it. Initially, we will get you set up in our portal so we can transfer tax documents securely. Once we have all of the documents we need, we will prepare your return and send you any questions we may have to help file your return accurately. Finally, after payment for the return preparation, we will send you a copy of your return for your review and signature. Once signed, we will file your return for you. Any questions you have during the process, you are more than welcome to contact us and we would be happy to help.

Help! I’m being audited, or I received a letter from the IRS, can you help?

Yes. However, during filing season we may not take new audit or collections clients during return filing season. We will, however, discuss your situation and see if the deadlines can be met timely based on our schedule. If we are unable to assist, we can usually refer you to someone who can.
